Keeping a clean home doesn’t mean you have to be cleaning everything all the time, some jobs need more attention than others. Here are Kleenology’s suggestions on daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks.
DAILY
- Replace items after use.
- Wash dishes, wipe clean kitchen work surfaces, clean up spillages on cooker top, and empty bins when almost full and place a new bin liner inside.
- Squeegee shower doors after every use to prevent lime scale build up and wipe dry shower cubicle to prevent mildew.
- Wipe out sinks and basins with a disinfectant cleaner.
- Make beds and do a quick room tidy.
TWICE WEEKLY
- Dust-mop hardwood floors to prevent scratching from dirt.
- Put away clutter.
- Vacuum downstairs or at least heavy tread areas if you haven’t much time.
- Bleach toilets.
MONTHLY
- Wipe clean skirting boards and blinds.
- Sweep areas outside front and back door so as not to bring muck in house.
- Vacuum upholstered furniture with the brush attachment.
- Clean light fittings.
- Using vacuum or feather duster, de-cobweb.
- Defrost and clean out fridge/freezer.
THREE MONTHLY
- Polish wood furniture with bees wax.
- Clean inside windows and frames
- Clean tops of cupboards.
- Clean the oven (monthly if grease and burnt on food builds up).
SIX MONTHLY
- Wash windows and frames outside.
- Sort out, tidy and have a chuck out in areas such as loft, shed and garage.
- Vacuum, flip, and rotate mattresses.
- Polish silver and brass items.
- Air out pillows and duvets.
YEARLY
- Move heavy furniture to clean behind and underneath.
- Vacuum backs of rugs.
- Clean curtains and carpets.
- Turn area rugs 180 degrees to even out wear.
- Wash clean walls.
- Clean chandeliers.
